Colours / Icings

Here is a basic Blue Ribbons guide of colours to use for your sugarcraft project:

Sugarflair Food Colours are glycerine based, high strength colours which are best used in sugarpaste (roll-out icing), marzipan, almond paste, petal paste, mexican paste, cream and buttercream.

Petal Dust and Lustre Dusts are mainly used for dry dusting onto sugar flowers, leaves etc. Gold Lustre Dusts can also be used to "dry dust" chocolate.

Sugarflair Food Colours, Petal Dusts and Lustre Dusts can also be used as edible paint by mixing with Paintmate or Rejuvenator fluid shown on Blue Ribbons link to Edibles Sundries.

Sugartint Droplet colours are liquid and best used to colour royal icing.

Disco Cake Glitter is an edible glitter which comes in a sensational range of colours. This is another fun dimension to sugarcraft. It can be used on fairy cakes and muffins to wedding cakes and biscuits. Just paint the area to be "glittered" with edible glue, use a dry brush to pick up the glitter, then gently flick the brush over the area so that it falls evenly onto the glued surface of your cake.
